A tragic incident has shaken the city of Solapur, where two schoolgirls lost their lives allegedly due to the consumption of contaminated water. The incident occurred in the Babu Jagjivan Ram slum area of Modi locality, prompting outrage and protests from local residents.
According to locals, contaminated water has been supplied to the slum for several days, and they hold this responsible for the girls’ deaths. One more girl is reportedly in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.
The tragic deaths have created a wave of unrest and anger in the area. Grieving residents and family members of the deceased have strongly alleged negligence by the civic authorities and demanded immediate action. Citizens gathered in protest and voiced their outrage in front of BJP MLA Devendra Kothe.
MP Praniti Shinde also visited the slum, met with the bereaved families, and conducted an on-ground inspection of the locality. She assured the residents that she would raise the issue with the appropriate authorities and push for accountability and remedial action.
The incident has raised serious concerns about water safety and public health infrastructure in the city. As pressure mounts on local officials, investigations are expected to be initiated to determine the source of contamination and to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
