In the backdrop of the municipal elections in the state, the political atmosphere has heated up further with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launching a strong attack on the Thackeray brothers. Speaking at a public meeting, Fadnavis also criticized Shiv Sena Thackeray faction MP Sanjay Raut, saying, “The cap I threw was worn by Raut to the Thackeray brothers,” making a sharp jibe. This statement indicates signs of another controversy brewing in the state's politics.

Fadnavis said, “In politics, some people always speak someone else's language. I present a point, and someone else takes credit for it. Sanjay Raut always does this. He has directly put the hat I threw on the Thackeray brothers.” Through this statement, he accused Raut of spreading political misunderstandings by misinterpreting.

After this, Chief Minister Fadnavis directly criticized the Thackeray brothers. “You were in power for so many years, now you have grown old. But how much development of Mumbai did you actually do?” he questioned. Despite Shiv Sena's dominance over the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for many years, he accused them of not doing the expected work on issues like basic facilities, roads, water supply, sanitation, and traffic.

Fadnavis said, “Mumbai is the financial capital of the country. However, instead of developing this city, time was spent only on speeches and political maneuvers. After we came to power, we accelerated projects like Metro, Coastal Road, Trans Harbour Link, and Cluster Development.” He also accused the Thackeray brothers of opposing these projects while in power. At this time, Fadnavis accused the Thackeray brothers of doing politics only on emotional issues. “Mumbaikars want development, not just a market of announcements. Now the public is watching everything and will give the right answer at the right time,” he clarified. There is a possibility of a strong reaction from the Thackeray group and MNS to the Chief Minister's statement, and it seems that the intensity of accusations and counter-accusations will increase further in the upcoming municipal election campaign.
