The sudden increase in rainfall has disrupted normal life in the region, while also bringing relief to farmers eagerly awaiting the monsoon. Rainfall, which began late on Wednesday night, continued into Thursday morning with brief pauses, only to return with greater intensity. Nagpur has been experiencing persistent showers since morning, significantly lowering the temperature and blanketing the city in mist and fog.

  • Heavy rainfall

  • Gusty winds

  • Lightning and thunderstorms

Districts under alert include:

  • Buldhana

  • Akola

  • Amravati

  • Washim

  • Gadchiroli

  • Chandrapur

  • Gondia

  • Yavatmal

Monsoon Intensifies in Vidarbha

Although the monsoon arrived early in Maharashtra this year, Vidarbha and Nagpur have seen a significant surge in rainfall since last week. The recent showers have not only brought down temperatures but also created favorable conditions for crop sowing. Farmers across the region are reportedly relieved, as the rainfall marks the beginning of a promising agricultural cycle. In particular, Wardha district has recorded substantial rainfall, and the situation is being closely monitored by authorities.

Citizens Urged to Stay Alert

Given the intensity of the forecast, residents in the affected districts are advised to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel

  • Stay indoors during heavy downpours

  • Be cautious of potential lightning strikes and falling trees

In addition to Vidarbha, parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada have also been placed under a yellow alert, as monsoon activity continues to strengthen across the state.
