'This many' Wards Reserved for Women in Mumbai Municipal Corporation Election, Which Wards for Scheduled Castes and Tribes?

The ward-wise reservation draw for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Election (BMC Election 2025) was held on Tuesday morning at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir in Bandra. This process was completed in the presence of Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani on behalf of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

According to the release, out of a total of 227 wards, 114 seats are reserved for female candidates. The reservation is determined as follows according to various categories –

  • 15 wards are reserved for Scheduled Castes, of which 8 wards will be for female candidates.

  • 2 wards are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, with 1 ward reserved for women.

  • 61 wards for the OBC category, of which 31 are reserved for female candidates.

  • 149 wards in the general category, of which 74 wards will be reserved for women.

Citizens will have the opportunity to submit objections and suggestions on this draft reservation from November 14 to November 20, 2025, until 3 PM. After that, the final notification will be published.

Reserved wards for Scheduled Castes (including women's reservation)

  • Ward numbers – 26, 93, 151, 186, 146, 152, 155, 147, 189, 118, 183, 215, 141, 133, 140

Reserved wards for women candidates

  • Scheduled Caste women – 133, 183, 147, 186, 155, 118, 151, 189

  • Scheduled Tribe women– 121

This draw is expected to bring significant changes in the political equations of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections.
