Senior Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Anil Parab on Tuesday addressed a press conference, making a significant appeal for unity between the two estranged Thackeray brothers — Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray. Amid ongoing political speculation, Parab expressed openness to reconciliation, stating that the party has extended a hand of cooperation. Speaking on the current political climate within the Shiv Sena, Parab said, “Every party is assessing its own strength. Those who fall prey to money tend to switch sides — even some of our hidden activists are among them. These shifts happen in every election cycle. But our true strength lies in our grassroots workers. That is the main reason why Shiv Sena was divided.”
Parab further emphasized that the ideological core of the party still rests with its loyal base and reiterated that opportunistic defection cannot shake the foundation of the original Sena. When asked about the growing discussions around a possible alliance or understanding between Raj Thackeray (MNS) and Uddhav Thackeray, Parab responded positively. “If both Thackeray brothers are willing to come together in the interest of Maharashtra and to fulfill the aspirations of Marathi people, we welcome it,” he said. “Uddhav Thackeray has already stated that we are ready to let go of past differences. We’ve responded positively to that sentiment. We have extended our hand.”
He also clarified that the final decision rests with the two leaders. “Whatever the decision-making process may be, it will be up to the two leaders to meet and decide,” Parab said, underlining the importance of dialogue over public speculation. The remarks have reignited political chatter in Maharashtra about a potential reunion between the two prominent Thackeray leaders, which many see as a move that could reshape the Marathi political landscape ahead of the upcoming elections.
