A tragic incident that occurred on Saturday evening at the famous Kashid beach in Raigad district turned a day filled with laughter and joy into a tragedy. During a trip of a coaching class from Gau-Rakshan Road in Akola, a teacher and a student drowned in the sea, while a student was saved by the promptness of local fishermen. According to the information received, three teachers and twelve students from Akola city had come to Kashid beach in Murud taluka of Raigad district as part of an educational and recreational trip. In the evening, some students went down to swim in the sea. However, suddenly three students were swept away by the strong waves.
Local fishermen and the rescue team on the shore immediately started the rescue operation. Their efforts successfully saved Ayush Bobde (17). However, attempts to save teacher Ram Kute (55) and student Ayush Ramteke (19) were unsuccessful. Both tragically passed away.
After the accident, both bodies were moved to the primary health centers in Borli and Murud for post-mortem. Murud police promptly shared the incident details with Akola police and the Akola District Disaster Management Authority. The families of the deceased have been informed, and further action is underway.
According to the information provided by teacher Ram Kute's colleague, “Kute sir made every effort to save the students. However, while saving the students, he lost his own life,” said Prof. Prashant Pagarut. Murud police have registered a case of accidental death in this incident, and further investigation is underway. Kashid Beach is a popular tourist destination in Raigad district, attracting thousands of tourists every year. However, due to unexpected currents and the dangers of deep water, this beach has often witnessed accidents. Therefore, following this incident, the local administration has once again urged tourists to exercise caution.
