A major and important update has come for Mumbaikars regarding train travel, who are preparing to enjoy the holidays in the last week of December. If you are planning to go out on 26th and 27th December, check the train schedule before leaving, otherwise, your plan for enjoyment might get disrupted. Due to the rapid work on the sixth line between Kandivali and Borivali on the Western Railway, as many as 300 local train services have been canceled on Friday, 27th December.

According to the information provided by the Western Railway administration, a major 'non-interlocking' block will be undertaken from 11 PM on December 26 to 7 AM on December 27 to operationalize the 'electronic interlocking' panel at Borivali station. Due to this technical work, the railway service will be affected not only on December 27 but also from the night of December 26. During this period, traffic on both the up and down slow lines will be disrupted, and passengers may have to face significant inconvenience.

Not only have the rounds been canceled, but the routes of many locals have also been changed. 14 locals running up to Borivali and Andheri will only run up to Goregaon station. Also, due to the speed limit imposed on the down fast track between Kandivali and Dahisar, trains will run later than usual. Tourists coming to Mumbai and travelers going out for New Year's celebrations or Christmas holidays will be greatly affected by this block.

On the other hand, the situation is not much different for Central Railway passengers. A special power block has been taken at Panvel station until December 30 for station redevelopment and coaching complex work. As a result, the schedules of many long-distance trains going to Konkan or Pune via Panvel have been changed, and some trains have been canceled or diverted from their regular routes. Passengers on the Harbor line should also pay attention to official railway announcements while planning their journey.

The railway administration has requested passengers to use alternative modes of transport, such as BEST buses or the metro, to avoid unnecessary crowding during this block period. Although this work by the railways is extremely important for the future convenience of passengers and to increase the capacity of trains, it is going to test the patience of Mumbaikars during the current holiday season.
