Mumbai: In the Rajya Sabha elections to be held on March 16, the Maha Vikas Aghadi is likely to get only one seat, and deciding who to send as a candidate for that seat has become an important political question. Out of the 7 seats in the Legislative Assembly, six are likely to go to the ruling grand alliance, and the remaining one seat is reserved for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
In this context, at a press conference held in Delhi today, Supriya Sule expressed an important opinion by clarifying the consultation and discussion within the Maha Vikas Aghadi. She stated that currently, there is a demand and discussion that Sharad Pawar should be sent as a candidate to the Rajya Sabha, but the final decision will depend on the consensus of all parties. She clarified that Sharad Pawar has recently been discharged and is undergoing health check-ups, and a full discussion with him will take place soon.
Supriya Sule stated that she has also discussed Mahavikas Aghadi support with Shashikant Shinde and Jayant Patil and has also mentioned meeting senior Congress leaders. She expressed a clear opinion that if a decision is made with everyone's consent, Sharad Pawar can be sent for this position. Today, there will also be a meeting of Mahavikas Aghadi for one Rajya Sabha seat, where 20 MLAs of Uddhav Sena, 16 of Congress, and 10 of NCP are expected to be present, according to the information available. In this meeting, there is a possibility of deciding which candidate's name will be proposed and who will be sent.
Notably, in the Mahavikas Aghadi, Aaditya Thackeray has previously insisted that his party should get this sole Rajya Sabha seat. On this, Shashikant Shinde also expressed congratulations, emphasizing the importance of making decisions with consensus among all components. It is expected that all political equations regarding this Rajya Sabha election will soon become clear, and the upcoming days will be crucial for a definite decision on Sharad Pawar's candidacy.
