In a shocking incident that has once again brought the issue of women’s safety to the forefront, a 28-year-old female airline pilot was allegedly molested in Ghatkopar, Mumbai on Thursday night. The incident occurred inside a private taxi, reportedly booked through a ride-hailing app, while the victim was returning home after meeting her husband.
According to initial reports, three men were involved in the incident. A complaint has been lodged at the Ghatkopar police station, and an investigation is currently underway.
The victim, an employee of a private airline, had dinner with her husband, a Navy officer, before booking a cab to return home around 10 p.m. However, after she boarded the cab, the driver suddenly diverted the route, and the vehicle came to a halt. At that moment, two unknown men entered the car. Alarmed, the woman began to shout, but one of the intruders threatened her, while the other molested her.
Soon after, the car approached a police checkpoint, prompting the two unidentified assailants to flee the scene. The driver then dropped the woman at her residence. She narrated the ordeal to her husband, who promptly lodged a complaint with the local police.
