In Brief
Bhide Bridge in Pune closed from today
Work on the metro pedestrian bridge to resume
Work will continue from September 10 to October 4
(Pune Bhide Bridge) Important news for Pune residents. The Bhide Bridge, which connects the central part of the city, has been closed for a month and a half. This decision has been made because the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has accelerated the construction of a pedestrian bridge near the Deccan Gymkhana station on the Vanaz–Ramwadi metro route. As a result, drivers who travel this route daily will have to face some inconvenience for a while.
To avoid traffic congestion during the Ganesh festival, the Bhide Bridge was temporarily opened on August 26. However, to complete the remaining work, traffic on the bridge has been stopped once again. This time, however, the road in the riverbed will be available for traffic, and officials have urged citizens to use alternative routes.
Additional Director General of MahaMetro, Chandrashekhar Tambavekar, stated that after the completion of the work on the bridge, thousands of pedestrians in the Deccan area will have access to safe and convenient facilities. A pedestrian bridge has become a necessity at this location, which connects busy areas like Shaniwarwada, Tilak Road, Fergusson Road, Mandai, and Laxmi Road. The number of passengers in this area is also expected to increase significantly after the metro station becomes operational.
Although the closure of Bhide Bridge will cause short-term inconvenience, in the long term, this project will prove beneficial for the residents of Pune. The traffic department has also requested citizens to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. It is expressed with confidence that after the completion of the work, citizens will experience a safer and smoother journey.
