The police encounter of Amol Khotkar, the prime suspect in the high-profile robbery at the residence of businessman Santosh Ladda in the Waluj area, has ignited widespread attention and now taken a controversial turn. Khotkar’s family has come forward with serious allegations, claiming the encounter was a “contract killing”, and has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident.
According to the police, the encounter took place late last night in the Vadgaon Kolhati area. Officials allege that Amol Khotkar attempted to run over a police officer with a car. In the ensuing confrontation, police opened fire, resulting in Khotkar’s death on the spot.
Amol's sister Rohini Khotkar, while talking to the media, made a serious allegation. "There is a judicial system in the state, it was right to arrest the accused and present him in court. The police should not have killed him. This murder was committed with betel nut," she said.
Amol’s father, Baburao Khotkar, also expressed serious doubts over the police's account of the incident. He demanded a CBI investigation to uncover the truth behind the encounter.
“Why were so many bullets fired at his chest? What really happened? Only the CBI can uncover the truth,” he said, while also insisting on an in-camera post-mortem examination of his son's body.
