Demolition of Elphinstone Bridge in Mumbai begins
Citizens urged to use alternative routes
Elphinstone Bridge demolition will last 60 days
(Elphinstone Bridge) There was strong opposition from locals to the demolition of Elphinstone Bridge. Now, the demolition of Elphinstone Bridge in Mumbai has begun. After demolishing the Elphinstone Bridge, a new Elphinstone flyover and the Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector flyover will be constructed at the site.
This bridge will remain closed for traffic. It is reported that the demolition of the Elphinstone Bridge will take 60 days. The bridge has been closed from tonight under tight security, and it is reported that the construction of the new bridge will take 16 months. New traffic rules have been implemented for this, and citizens are urged to use alternative routes.
