This is great news for electric vehicle owners. Private and government electric four-wheelers traveling on Atal Setu will receive toll exemption starting today. The government had decided to implement this concession from August 21, and now it is being put into effect.

The announcement of this decision was made in April, but it took five months for actual implementation. Now that it has started on the Atal Setu, it is expected that in the next few days, toll exemption for electric vehicles will also be applied on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Samruddhi Highway.

Under the "Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy" announced by the state government in April, the decision for toll exemption was made to control pollution and curb carbon emissions. It includes full toll exemption for electric four-wheelers and buses on the Atal Setu, Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Highway.

Meanwhile, a provision has been made to offer a 50% discount on tolls for four-wheeler electric vehicles on state and national highways under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department.
