Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly that a large-scale recruitment drive will soon be launched across the state. This announcement comes as part of the government’s ongoing 150-day target fulfillment campaign, aimed at streamlining administrative operations and addressing vacancies across departments.
Responding to a striking suggestion made by Assembly member Bhimrao Keram, the Chief Minister outlined that during this 150-day program, various departments are mandated to:
Review departmental structures,
Update recruitment policies, and
Complete 100% recruitment on compassionate grounds.
“Once these objectives are met, a comprehensive mega recruitment process will be implemented,” Fadnavis stated.
The Chief Minister also revealed that although 75,000 government posts were previously announced, over 1 lakh posts have actually been filled so far. He further addressed the status of 6,860 employees from the Scheduled Tribe category who have been serving for more than 20 years without valid caste certificates. Their appointments have now been regularized, but they will remain ineligible for promotions. These posts will be considered vacant upon their retirement.
Of the 1,343 posts reserved for Scheduled Tribes, recruitment for several has already been completed, while the rest are currently in process. Additionally, Fadnavis announced plans to use blockchain technology to improve the speed and transparency of caste certificate verification. A dedicated group of secretaries will be formed to oversee the implementation of this system.
The Chief Minister also confirmed that recruitment for reserved posts in the Public Works Department (PWD) will be carried out, ensuring representation and employment opportunities for marginalized communities.
