The country's first 'Mumbai Climate Week' initiative will commence today in the presence of various dignitaries, and this global climate dialogue will be held at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai from February 17 to 19, 2026. This initiative, which gives the city a central role in the citizen-based climate platform of the Global South, is being implemented by the social organization Project Mumbai in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Climate Change. During this three-day event, grassroots organizations, leaders from various sectors, industry experts, and policymakers will engage in in-depth discussions on climate solutions in India and the Global South.

Global and national level leadership will come together on this platform, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Mukesh Ambani, Baba Kalyani, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, public health expert Soumya Swaminathan, industry sector's Esther Finidori, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, along with Union Ministers, international representatives, more than 100 organizations and 400 speakers participating. Practical solutions will be sought focusing on key topics such as urban resilience, food systems, and energy transition.

This is an attempt by Mumbai to take global leadership on the growing challenges of climate change, with a focus on citizen participation, public-private partnerships, and sustainable solutions. This initiative is expected to position Mumbai as a leading platform for climate action for the Global South.
