Kolhapur: Rajaram Dam Among 56 Overflown, Villages on High Alert

Heavy rainfall is continuing in the Kolhapur dam area.

(Kolhapur Rain) Heavy rainfall is continuing in the Kolhapur dam area. Due to the rain, the water level of the Panchganga river is rising rapidly. All the rivers in the district including Panchganga, Dudhganga, Kumbhi, Kasari, Warna Vedganga, Ghataprabha, Bhogavati, Tamraparni are flowing in full flow.

As there is more water in the dam compared to last year, it is being reported that the discharge from the dam is still continuing, anticipating future rainfall, and the water level of Panchgange has reached 33 feet 7 inches. Last year, on this day, the Radhanagari dam had 27% water, while today the Radhanagari dam has 65% water.

56 dams including Rajaram have gone under water and traffic has been disrupted but traffic is continuing via alternative routes. All rivers in Kolhapur district are flowing at full speed and all villages along the river banks have been issued an alert.
