As the implementation of the Ladki Bahin Yojana completes one year, the state government has started strictly enforcing the eligibility rules. Initially, after the announcement to provide honorarium to all eligible women, a large number of applications were received. However, during verification, many irregularities were revealed, leading to a large number of applications being rejected.

In the investigation in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, it was found that 20,000 women were outside the age limit. Some applicants are under 20 years old, while some are over 65 years old. Additionally, it was found that 84,000 applications were from three or more women from the same household. According to the rules, such cases have been excluded from the scheme.

Due to this process, the entitlement to honorarium for a total of 104,000 women across the state has been canceled. The monthly honorarium of 1500 rupees received by the concerned sisters has been immediately stopped. The Anganwadi workers are still conducting inspections, and so far, 435 women have voluntarily given letters not to avail the benefit. Currently, verification of 2.6 million suspected beneficiaries in the state is ongoing, and it is expected that there will be significant reductions in other districts in the coming period.
