Local Body Elections: No stay on Local body elections, election process will continue - Supreme Court

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the crucial issue of OBC reservation in view of the elections of local self-government institutions in the state.

(Local Body Elections) A hearing was held today in the Supreme Court on the objection that the 50 percent reservation limit was exceeded in the elections of local self-government institutions in the state. As the constitutional limit of 50 percent OBC reservation was exceeded in these elections, the matter went to the Supreme Court.

In this hearing, the Supreme Court has stated that 'there will be no stay on the election and the election process will continue'. The court has also stated that the municipal council and municipal corporation elections will be held at the scheduled time. The next hearing in the Supreme Court will be on January 21.
