The Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra State Legislature, which commenced on June 30, is set to continue until July 18. As the session enters its second day, the political atmosphere in the Assembly is heating up, with the Opposition expected to adopt an aggressive stance on a range of critical issues affecting the state.
Leaders of the Opposition are preparing to confront the ruling coalition over several contentious matters. Key among them are the government’s abrupt reversal on the Hindi language mandate, the contentious Shaktipeeth Highway project, unfulfilled promises made to farmers, and schemes like Ladki Bahin (Sister for the Girl Child) and other stalled developmental initiatives.
Additionally, issues related to corruption revelations and remarks made concerning farmers have further intensified the Opposition's attack strategy. These matters are expected to dominate the floor debates in the days ahead.
A central point of discussion will also include financial demands amounting to ₹57,000 crore, which have been presented for consideration during the session.
