Even as the world has largely emerged from the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, fresh concerns are mounting in Maharashtra with a resurgence of new cases. On Wednesday, health officials reported 30 new COVID-19 infections across the state, along with three related deaths, signaling a renewed need for public vigilance.
According to the state health department, the new infections have been reported from several urban centers:
Mumbai – 8 cases
Thane Municipal Corporation – 3 cases
Navi Mumbai – 2 cases
Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation – 2 cases
Pune Municipal Corporation – 8 cases
Kolhapur Municipal Corporation – 1 case
Sangli – 1 case
Nagpur Municipal Corporation – 5 cases
These cases reflect a scattered but steady increase in infections across multiple regions.
Health officials have also expressed concerns over the emergence of a possible new strain of the coronavirus, which is suspected to be driving the recent uptick. Several other Indian states have reported similar patterns of rising cases, prompting alerts from both local and national health authorities.
In light of these developments, the health department has issued advisories urging citizens to remain cautious. People experiencing flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or fatigue are being advised to consult a medical professional promptly. Authorities have also recommended continued adherence to basic preventive measures including mask-wearing in crowded areas, hand hygiene, and avoiding unnecessary travel for vulnerable individuals.
