The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Maharashtra, forecasting intense rainfall activity across several parts of the state over the next five days. The downpour has already impacted various regions, causing significant damage to crops and agricultural infrastructure.

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue in multiple districts, with certain areas placed under red alert due to the expected intensity of the showers. The weather department has also indicated that rainfall is likely to spread and cover most of the remaining parts of the state.

In its broader forecast, the IMD has warned that four states, including Maharashtra, are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain over the next 6 to 7 days. This prolonged spell of monsoon activity could lead to waterlogging, flooding in low-lying areas, and disruptions in daily life.

The state administration has urged citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to safety instructions issued by local authorities. Emergency services and disaster response teams have been put on standby to handle any rain-related incidents.
