In the backdrop of the upcoming announcement of elections for 29 municipal corporations in the state, including Mumbai, the Urban Development Department has distributed a fund of 74 crore 64 lakh rupees for basic facilities in municipal areas. Out of this, a provision of 36 crore has been made separately for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and the ruling grand alliance will focus on the issue of development in the elections. This fund will be used for roads, water supply, sewers, sewage channels, and other basic facilities.
Focusing specifically on Mumbai, 18 crore has been allocated for the city and 17 crore for the suburbs. In the Konkan division, a total of 172 crore has been approved for the municipal corporations of Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi, Nizampur, Mira-Bhayandar, and Vasai-Virar, out of which 43 crore has been distributed.
In the Pune division, 90 crore has been approved for Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kolhapur, and Solapur, and 22 crore 50 lakh has been distributed.
In the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division, 13.65 crore has been approved for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Nanded-Waghala, and 3 crore 41 lakh has been distributed.
In the Nashik division, 130 crore has been approved for Nashik and Dhule municipal corporations, and approval has been received to distribute a fund of 3 crore 25 lakh. This fund will strengthen the municipal corporations to solve citizens' problems before the elections and will accelerate development works.
