After a brief lull, monsoon rains have returned to Maharashtra, bringing relief from the rising heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh warnings for heavy rainfall in various parts of the state, particularly the Konkan coast and the Western Ghats.
Rainfall resumed this week following a temporary break, during which citizens experienced soaring temperatures. According to the IMD, scattered showers are currently occurring in Konkan, the Ghat regions, Madhya Maharashtra, and East Vidarbha. While the overall intensity of rainfall is expected to dip slightly, localized heavy downpours are still likely.
An Orange Alert — indicating the likelihood of very heavy rainfall — has been issued for specific districts in Konkan and Ghatmatha. Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert — denoting the possibility of moderate to heavy rain — remains in effect for several districts in Marathwada and Vidarbha.
