Maharashtra Weather Alert: Torrential Rains Forecast, Orange Alert Issued for Several Districts

After a brief respite, the monsoon has returned with renewed intensity across Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several regions of the state over the next two to three days, along with gusty winds and thunderstorms.

According to the IMD, Konkan and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period. The weather conditions are expected to intensify, posing potential risks of flooding and disruption in low-lying areas.

An orange alert has been issued for the following districts:

  • Raigad

  • Ratnagiri

  • Sindhudurg

  • Pune (Ghat areas)

  • Satara

  • Entire Konkan belt

Authorities have urged residents in these regions to remain cautious and avoid travel in vulnerable zones.

The IMD has predicted moderate rainfall in Mumbai and Thane, while parts of Marathwada are likely to experience rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms over the next two days. Citizens in these areas are advised to follow updates and advisories from local authorities.
