The monsoon has resumed its intensity across Maharashtra, prompting a fresh weather alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). After a brief lull and a spell of sweltering heat, heavy rain has returned to various parts of the state.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. Along with Mumbai, similar rainfall patterns are expected to affect Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts.

The department has also forecast intense showers in Palghar, where residents are advised to take necessary precautions. "Citizens should stay updated on weather developments and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall," the IMD cautioned.

Gusty winds are expected to accompany the showers, increasing the risk of waterlogging, reduced visibility, and potential disruptions to transportation and public services. Local authorities are on alert and have begun preparations for possible emergencies.
