After a brief lull, the monsoon is set to return to Maharashtra beginning today, bringing much-needed relief from the intense heat that has gripped the state in recent days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds, particularly across the Konkan region, over the next five days.

The brief pause in rainfall had led to a spike in temperatures, with cities like Mumbai experiencing a severe heatwave. Citizens were reeling under sweltering conditions, prompting health and safety concerns. However, the IMD has now predicted that monsoon activity will regain momentum, offering relief and signaling a more active weather phase.

According to the latest forecast, Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad are expected to receive heavy rainfall between June 12 and June 17. Along with intense showers, strong gusty winds are likely, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas of Konkan.

In light of the expected weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has issued a precautionary advisory for both citizens and farmers. People residing in Konkan, especially those in villages near riverbanks, have been urged to remain alert and avoid vulnerable areas.

Farmers are advised to take protective measures for crops and equipment, as strong winds and waterlogging may cause disruptions in agricultural activities.
