(Nagpur BJP) All political parties are preparing for the upcoming municipal elections. The distribution of AB forms took place yesterday. Voting for the municipal elections will be held on January 15, 2026, and the counting will take place on January 16, 2026, for 2869 seats. Many expressed dissatisfaction as candidacies were denied.

Some people were disappointed and resigned because they were not given candidacy. Against this backdrop, it seems that the BJP has suffered a setback in their stronghold. It is reported that more than 40 office bearers have resigned in Nagpur. The BJP distributed AB forms directly without announcing the list of candidates, which has upset many office bearers. Some of them have filed nomination papers in rebellion, while many have resigned from party membership.

In this, former Mayor Archana Dehankar's husband Vinayak Dehankar has resigned. 42 BJP officials have resigned as former corporator Sunil Agrawal was not given a ticket from Ward 14. Meanwhile, Ward 16 official Gajanan Nishitkar has resigned from the party due to an external candidate being given. Along with this, former BJP corporator Harish Dikondwar from Ward 27 and Golu Borkar from Ward 33 have reportedly filed independent candidatures.
