After the horrific accident at the metro construction site in Mulund on Saturday, a meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be held today at 2 PM. This meeting will review safety improvements regarding the accident and is expected to discuss the budget of major infrastructure projects.

During the construction of Metro Line 4 in Mulund, after a parapet section collapsed resulting in one death and three injuries, the government has initiated immediate action. Deputy Chief Minister Shinde has ordered the suspension of Executive Engineer Satyajit Salve, and a fine of 1 crore has been imposed on Louis Berger Company and 5 crores on Milan Infra Company. MMRDA has announced assistance of 15 lakhs to the family of the deceased, and a safety audit of the entire corridor has been conducted.

This meeting will conduct a detailed analysis of the Mulund accident and emphasize strict adherence to safety regulations, structural audits, and accountability to prevent such incidents in the future. Additionally, the MMRDA budget will discuss fund allocation for metro, coastal connectivity, and other major projects, which will accelerate the development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
