Heavy rains continue to batter Mumbai, causing widespread disruption across the city. In a concerning development, floodwaters entered KEM Hospital, severely impacting patient care and hospital operations.

Mumbai has been witnessing continuous downpours since early morning, with cloudy skies and a forecast of more heavy rain throughout the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for several districts in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, as the monsoon intensifies across the state.

The impact of the rainfall has been severe, particularly in low-lying areas, many of which are now waterlogged. Railway services on both Central and Western lines have been delayed by 15 to 20 minutes, as water accumulates on tracks and platforms.

One of the most troubling incidents reported is from KEM Hospital in Parel, where rainwater entered the ground floor and several wards. The flooding occurred during the season’s first major rainfall, raising questions about the city’s drainage preparedness. Patients and hospital staff are facing difficulties, as water has disrupted access and sanitation within the hospital premises.

Authorities are working to clear water from affected areas, but the continuous downpour is hampering efforts. Emergency services are on alert, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has appealed to citizens to stay indoors unless necessary, especially in flood-prone areas.
