After the central government deemed the country's first and cost-effective tyre-based metro unfeasible and scrapped it, MahaMetro is now ready for a regular metro. They have conducted a survey for this regular metro and have suggested that Nashik Municipal Corporation call a meeting next week.

From the perspective of the growing population of Nashik city, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced Neo Metro for Nashik in 2018. Considering the MahaMetro proposal, the state government approved Neo Metro before the 2019 assembly elections and also issued a government decision, while the central government approved a total fund of 2100 crore rupees for it in 2021.

However, the plan to complete this metro by 2024 proved ineffective and no further actions were taken. Now, on the occasion of the Kumbh Mela, it was decided to explore a robust means of public transport with Neo Metro and regular metro. However, the central government has scrapped the proposal for Neo Metro. As a result, one option for the metro has been eliminated. Meanwhile, MahaMetro has once again studied the traffic in Nashik city and prepared an integrated transport development plan.
