Important news for Pune residents. Due to the final stage of the Pune Grand Challenge Tour-2026 international cycling competition, many major roads in the central part of the city and suburbs will be closed from 12 PM to 6 PM on January 23 (Friday). Traffic police have appealed to drivers to use alternative routes due to traffic restrictions on University Road, SB Road, Bal Gandharva Road, and other roads. A holiday has been declared for government and private schools in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to avoid traffic congestion and inconvenience to students caused by the competition.

This is the fourth and final stage of the competition, stretching 58 kilometers from Balewadi to Balgandharva Rangmandir. Measures have been implemented as per the district collector's orders, and Pune residents are requested to cooperate. The closed roads and alternative routes are as follows.

Radha Chowk to Suskhind Road (Bangalore Highway Service Road) will remain closed, and those heading to Hinjawadi should take a U-turn from Saykar Chowk via Baner Road-Radha Chowk and proceed to Hinjawadi from Balewadi Phata. Those going to Susgaon should opt for the route via Saykar-Mamta Chowk-Bangalore-Mumbai Highway-Sus Bridge-Service Road-Sutarwadi Underpass-Service Road. To reach Bavdhan or the highway, use the route via Saykar Chowk-Mamta Chowk-Pune-Mumbai Highway.

Punam Bakery to Pashan-Sus Road-Pashan Circle will be closed; alternative is Sutarwadi Road or Pune-Mumbai Highway. Take the Baner Road back route as Pashan Circle to NCL-Abhiman Shree Sosa-Pune University Square will be closed. For Pune University to Brahman Chowk-Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, use Brahman Chowk-Spire College-Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk-Rez Hills/Church Chowk route. This is also the alternative route for Rajiv Gandhi Bridge to SB Junction.

SB Junction to JW Marriott Hotel-Balbharati-Patrakar Bhavan (SB Road) will be closed; Ganeshkhind Road-Nargis Dutt Road is an alternative. From Patrakar Bhavan to Law College Road-Prabhat Road-Shelar Mama Chowk-Karve Road, go via Bhandarkar Road or BMCC Road. Organizers believe these changes will keep traffic smooth in Pune city and the competition will be successful. Pune residents should follow guidance to avoid traffic jams.
