Due to the heavy rains in many parts of the state over the past few days, farmers have suffered significant losses. Preliminary information suggests that approximately seven lakh hectares of crops have been affected.
Although the intensity of the rain has decreased since this morning, rain continues along the Konkan coast and the Ghats. According to the weather department, a red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued today for the hilly areas of Thane, Pune, Satara, and Nashik districts. Additionally, an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain has been declared for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Palghar districts.
According to weather experts, the intensity of the rain is expected to decrease from today, with light showers in some parts of the Konkan and Ghats. However, relatively dry conditions are expected in central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha.
Light showers are expected in some parts of Konkan on Friday, while light to moderate rain may occur in Konkan and East Vidarbha on Saturday and Sunday. The rest of Maharashtra will get a break from the rain, according to forecasts. In view of this situation, farmers and citizens are urged to heed the weather department's instructions.
