The final phase of the ambitious Samruddhi Mahamarg (Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway) is set to be inaugurated on Thursday, June 5. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will preside over the ceremony to officially open the 76-kilometer stretch between Igatpuri and Aamne.
Though construction on the Igatpuri–Aamne section was completed in April, its formal inauguration had been pending. With this last leg opening to traffic, the entire 701-kilometer Samruddhi Mahamarg will be fully operational.
So far, 625 kilometers of the expressway had been accessible to motorists. The completion of the remaining section marks a significant milestone for the state’s infrastructure development and is expected to dramatically reduce travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur—from 16 hours down to just 8 hours.
The expressway is poised to provide substantial relief to travelers and boost economic connectivity between key regions of Maharashtra. With seamless high-speed travel now possible across the full route, the Samruddhi Mahamarg is set to become one of India's premier expressways.
