(Solapur Heavy Rain) Torrential rain in Solapur city has flooded many areas. Due to water entering homes in Akkalkot Road, Mallikarjun Nagar, Old Bidi Gharakul, Mitra Nagar, and Shelgi area, residents faced significant difficulties. Major highways have been severely obstructed, and vehicle owners are having to use alternative routes.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Sachin Ombase has inspected the waterlogged areas, and along with Additional Commissioner Sandeep Karanje, officers and staff are engaged in relief work. In many areas, drainage chambers have overflowed, causing foul-smelling water to enter homes. As a result, residents had to stay awake all night. The municipal corporation has started cleaning and water pumping operations.

Meanwhile, Solapur city recorded 118.3 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The rural areas have also been severely affected by the rain, with streams and rivers overflowing in many villages of Akkalkot taluka. The water discharge from the Bori project has been increased from 1500 to 4000 cusecs. The administration has urged riverside residents to remain alert and avoid flood-affected areas.

The Shirwalwadi reservoir's spillway has overflowed, leading to the closure of the Shirwal–Vagdari road. The local administration, village council, and citizens have started taking precautions from a disaster management perspective. Due to the rain, schools have been declared closed, and daily life has been completely disrupted.
