A moving video of an elderly farmer couple from Maharashtra’s Latur district has gone viral on social media, capturing the attention of thousands including Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood. The video shows a 75-year-old farmer, Ambadas Pawar, ploughing his field himself while his wife assists him by pulling the plough from the opposite end, highlighting the couple’s severe financial struggles and lack of farming resources.
Without bullocks or access to modern machinery, the couple resorted to using their own strength to till the land. The video sparked widespread emotional reactions online and shed light on the ground realities many farmers continue to face.
Reacting promptly to the viral clip, Sonu Sood took to social media to offer assistance. Sharing the video, he wrote, “Send me your number. We’ll send bulls.” The actor’s gesture was met with overwhelming praise, with many applauding his continued commitment to social causes and support for the underprivileged.
Following the viral attention, the local administration also took note of the couple's condition. Taluka Agriculture Officer Sachin Bawge visited Ambadas Pawar’s farm and assured assistance. The farmer will soon be provided with agricultural equipment and machinery at subsidized rates.
Officials stated that since Pawar does not possess an agricultural identity card, the process to issue one has been initiated. Once completed, he is expected to be eligible for a subsidy of up to ₹1.25 lakh under government schemes aimed at supporting small and marginal farmers.
