(Supriya Sule) All political parties are preparing for the upcoming elections. In this context, Supriya Sule has written a letter to the State Election Commissioner. In the letter, Supriya Sule stated, 'The democratic tradition of the state of Maharashtra has remained strong, inclusive, and dialogue-oriented. The great leader of the country, the late Yashwantrao Chavan, envisioned bringing democracy to every village through the election process of local self-government institutions, which is considered the greatest achievement in the country's democratic tradition. It is through these elections that new leadership emerges, the aspirations of the people find a new direction, and new energy is generated in democracy.'
'Recently, there is an atmosphere of local self-government elections in the state of Maharashtra. However, it is observed that a very large number of elections are happening unopposed. This has created a situation that is extremely serious and concerning. Additionally, there are reports from many places that pressure is being exerted in some areas, a climate of fear is being created in others, and various anti-democratic tactics are being used in some places. As a result, capable and willing candidates are being deprived of even filing nominations.'
'This environment is not only against democratic values but also hinders healthy competition in elections. If there are no options available to the people, the fundamental spirit of local self-governance will weaken, and the goal of decentralization of democracy will also fail. Therefore, with a very heavy heart, I am writing this letter to you. I humbly request you to pay due attention to this serious matter and take the necessary steps.'
'Ensure that the current and future local self-government elections in Maharashtra are conducted in a completely transparent, independent, and fearless environment. Wherever complaints of pressure, force, or any kind of inappropriate acts are received, proper investigation should be conducted and strict and necessary action should be mandatorily taken. This is extremely necessary for the health of Maharashtra's democracy. Democracy is the foundation of the government, opposition, and the people. Therefore, it is our duty to keep it strong and impartial.' This is stated by Supriya Sule in the letter.
