In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested two foreign nationals in connection with the brutal murder of Sangeeta Pawar, a female kirtankar, at Sadguru Narayangiri Kanya Ashram in Chinchadgaon, Vaijapur. The case, which had created a wave of shock and unrest in the region, is now believed to have been a case of robbery gone wrong.

Sangeeta Pawar, an unmarried spiritual practitioner who had taken sannyas, had been residing at the ashram for the past two months. She followed a quiet routine within the ashram premises and was known for her devotional singing. On the day of the incident, she was sleeping outside in the ashram compound when unidentified individuals attacked her, fatally striking her on the head with a stone.

Following the gruesome discovery, local police immediately launched an in-depth investigation. After exploring various leads, they successfully traced and arrested one suspect from Vaijapur and the other from Madhya Pradesh. Both accused were identified as migrants and, during interrogation, they reportedly confessed to the crime. The motive, according to the police, was theft.

“The accused intended to steal valuables, but when Sangeeta Pawar resisted, they attacked her with a stone, leading to her death,” a senior police official stated. The incident has sparked fear and outrage, particularly due to the fact that it occurred within a spiritual setting meant to provide peace and refuge. The community is deeply disturbed that a revered kirtankar lost her life in such a brutal manner.

Authorities have assured the public that the investigation will continue thoroughly, and they expect to extract further crucial information from the arrested suspects. Enhanced security measures are also being considered in the ashram area to prevent such incidents in the future.
