Cabinet Meeting: A flurry of decisions in the cabinet meeting; 19 major decisions for farmers, industries, and infrastructure, green light for projects worth thousands of crores

Notably, the focus of these decisions is on comprehensive development, emphasizing farmers, irrigation, industry, health, education, and infrastructure. Many stalled projects in the state will gain momentum, and approvals have been granted for works worth thousands of crores of rupees. In today's cabinet meeting, three important decisions pursued by the late leader Ajit Pawar were also approved. These include the Baramati District Sports Complex, financial assistance to the spinning mill at Manwat, and decisions related to industrial development.

Great Relief for Farmers

The cabinet has approved taking a long-term loan of 15,000 crore rupees from NABARD through the Water Resources Department. This fund will be used to complete 57 incomplete irrigation projects in the state and improve the distribution system of 193 completed projects. As a result, irrigation facilities will be available to approximately 8 lakh hectares of agricultural land, providing great relief to millions of farmers. Additionally, a budget of 6 crore 60 lakh rupees has been approved for the repair of the minor irrigation project at Pimpalshenda (Tal. Murtizapur) in Akola district. This project will bring 255 hectares of land under irrigation.

Acceleration to Infrastructure and Industries

A decision has been made to establish a special purpose authority for the airport project at Purandar in Pune district. A loan of 6,000 crore rupees will be taken for land acquisition and related works for this project, with participation from MIDC, MADC, and CIDCO. The government will guarantee this loan, which will accelerate the project.

Approval has been granted to build an international standard cricket stadium in Kolhapur district. Government land of 12 hectares 76 ares will be made available at Vikaswadi in Karveer taluka, which will give a new direction to the sports development of Kolhapur. Additionally, a decision has been made to allocate 117 hectares 19 ares of land at Mouza Linga in Kalmeshwar taluka of Nagpur district to MIDC for the 'Coal to Chemical' project. This will boost industrial investment and job creation.

‘Strengthening the Third Mumbai’ Concept

Approval has been granted for the land acquisition and land distribution policy for the new city development authority in the impact area of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shivdi–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu. This will accelerate future projects to be implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, bringing the ‘Third Mumbai’ concept to fruition.

Improvements in Health, Education, and Administration

An important decision has been made to implement the 'My Village, Health-Enriched Village' campaign in the state. This campaign will be based on four pillars: lifestyle, diet, preventive measures, and timely treatment to bring about health improvements at the village level. An allocation of 80 crore 75 lakh rupees has been made for this every year. Approval has been given to create 11 additional district collector positions in the state to make the administration more efficient. This decision has been made considering the increased population and geographical expansion.

Decisions in the fields of sports, education, and social sectors

Approval has been granted for sports facilities worth 75 crore 13 lakh rupees at Katfal under Baramati District Sports Complex. This includes the construction of a swimming pool, skating rink, archery range, basketball court, and a grand pavilion. A decision has been made to increase the prize money in the state-level science exhibition, benefiting students, teachers, and laboratory attendants.

Reforms in laws, taxes, and government processes

A decision has been made to legally recognize notices sent via e-mail, and amendments have been made to the Maharashtra Land Revenue Act. Additionally, an ordinance regarding the settlement of arrears of taxes, interest, and penalties has been approved. Along with this, the cabinet has also approved amendments to two important laws related to higher and technical education.
