In a significant political development, senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal is set to take oath as a minister in the Maharashtra cabinet today. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
Bhujbal, who had reportedly been upset over being excluded from the cabinet in the recent past, is now poised to make a return. He had also met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis amid ongoing discussions, which are believed to have paved the way for his induction.
According to sources, Bhujbal is likely to be assigned the Food and Civil Supplies portfolio, a position recently vacated by fellow NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, who resigned from the cabinet. Munde previously held the same portfolio.
A circular issued by Maharashtra’s Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik has confirmed the organization of the swearing-in ceremony for members of the state cabinet. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, are expected to attend the event.
