Possibility of Action Against Kokate Due to Displeasure of Party Leaders

Sources indicate that the resignation of State Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate from his ministerial position is now almost confirmed. Due to continuous controversial statements and the recent uproar, the party leadership has hinted at taking a firm decision, and there is a possibility that Kokate's resignation will be taken before the cabinet meeting on the coming Monday or Tuesday.

Party leaders displeased, possibility of action

Currently, there is an atmosphere of displeasure towards Kokate within the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction). He recently stirred controversy by commenting 'the government is like beggars' in a speech. Previously, he was in the spotlight due to a viral video showing him playing an online game (Rummy) on his mobile during the Legislative Council session. Both incidents have led to significant embarrassment for the party and the government, according to both his opponents and the ruling party. Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Ajit Pawar, has stated that an important discussion with Kokate will take place on Monday. It is speculated that Kokate's resignation might be made public after this meeting.

Pressure from Opponents and Farmer Organizations

Due to Kokate's statements, the agitated opponents have directly demanded his dismissal. Additionally, several farmer organizations have objected to the controversial behavior of the Agriculture Minister and demanded his resignation. Some organizations have warned of protests if a decision is not made by Tuesday.

Meeting between Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister

Regarding the Kokate issue, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have also had detailed discussions with Ajit Pawar. According to sources, there has been agreement on action against Kokate, and it has been decided that resignation is the wiser course of action.

Option to change ministerial position?

Meanwhile, some reports claim that the party is also considering the option of changing Kokate's portfolio instead of completely removing him from the cabinet. However, taking his resignation seems to be the most feasible option at present to maintain the party's image.

Minister Manikrao Kokate's resignation now appears to be merely a matter of formality. Due to the questions raised on the party's image and dissatisfaction among the ruling members, a major decision is likely to be announced on Monday. There is no doubt that these developments will leave a mark on upcoming political equations.
