Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal was sworn in as a minister in the Maharashtra cabinet today. The oath-taking ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai in the presence of top state leaders and ministers.
Bhujbal, who had expressed disappointment in recent days over not being allotted a ministerial berth, had earlier met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the issue. His induction into the cabinet marks a resolution to the ongoing speculation surrounding his political future.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, along with several other senior leaders of the ruling MahaYuti alliance.
Bhujbal is expected to be assigned the Food and Civil Supplies portfolio — a position previously held by NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, who recently resigned from the cabinet. With Munde’s exit, Bhujbal is likely to step into the role.
