The Thackeray faction has suffered a major setback in Konkan, a stronghold of Shiv Sena. Former MLA Rajan Teli has left Uddhav Thackeray's side and joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. At Eknath Shinde's Dussehra gathering at Goregaon Nesco Center, Rajan Teli publicly joined the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena.
Rajan Teli had contested the assembly elections from Thackeray's Shiv Sena. He was defeated in the assembly elections against Deepak Kesarkar. Against the backdrop of municipal and district council elections, Rajan Teli's entry into the Shinde faction is considered a major blow to Uddhav Thackeray.
