On the 26th foundation day of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), a WhatsApp status posted by Member of Parliament Supriya Sule has stirred political speculation and debate. The emotionally charged message, interpreted by many as a reflection on current intra-party dynamics, quickly became a talking point across political circles and social media.

However, responding to the growing buzz, Supriya Sule has now offered a clarification, asserting that the status was personal and not intended as a political statement.

The Status That Sparked Debate

Supriya Sule’s status, shared on WhatsApp on June 9, read:

“My mother knows everything. My parents rarely give me advice. But the advice my mother gave me — I remind myself of it every day: ‘Learn to tolerate.’”

She went on to add:

“Injustice is happening before our eyes. Even when we are on the right side, injustice continues. When things are out of our control, we must be strong and endure. We must continue to do our duty and never forget our values.”

The message was widely seen as a philosophical reflection on ongoing tensions within the party — particularly amid the backdrop of the divide between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, both of whom are celebrating the NCP’s anniversary at separate events.

Supriya Sule’s Clarification

Addressing the media during Sharad Pawar’s anniversary program at Balgandharva Rangmandir in Pune, Sule said:

“I was on a flight yesterday and happened to recall some advice my mother gave me. I simply tweeted it as my personal status. It was not directed at anyone or anything specific. In a strong democracy, everyone should have the freedom to express their feelings. This was an emotional expression, not a political message.”

Her explanation comes as a response to the intense speculation linking the status to the party’s internal divisions and current political developments in Maharashtra.
