In a rare show of unity, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray appear to be coming together over a shared cause — opposing the imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra's schools. This development follows Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s announcement of a protest march against Hindi language compulsion, scheduled to take place in Mumbai on July 5.
At a press conference held yesterday, Raj Thackeray voiced strong opposition to what he termed as an “imposition” of the Hindi language in the state’s educational institutions. He called on citizens and political allies to support the upcoming rally organized by MNS to safeguard the prominence of Marathi in Maharashtra.
Following Raj Thackeray’s announcement, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut added fuel to the political momentum by posting a significant tweet featuring a photograph of both Thackeray brothers — Uddhav and Raj — standing together. Alongside the image, Raut declared:
“A single and united front will be launched against the imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra’s schools!”
The tweet sent ripples through political circles, hinting at potential collaboration between the two estranged Thackeray cousins — a rare occurrence in recent Maharashtra politics.
In his tweet, Sanjay Raut also confirmed that Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) will officially participate in the July 5th protest march organized by MNS. This signifies a momentous alignment between two political factions that have often found themselves on opposite sides of ideological and electoral battles.
