The first match of the five-match T20 international series between India and Australia will be played on October 29 in Canberra. Before this series, India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav made a big revelation about the upcoming T20 World Cup at a press conference. According to him, India's preparation for the World Cup started with the Asia Cup 2025.
After winning the Asia Cup, the Indian T20 team is now on a tour of Australia under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. Considering this series as preparation for the upcoming World Cup, Suryakumar said, “We are not looking at this series as a separate challenge but as an extension of our T20 process. For us, this journey started with the Asia Cup and will continue until the World Cup.”
Maintained stability in team combination
Speaking about the team structure, Suryakumar said, “There are not many changes in the team. Just as we played with one fast bowler, one all-rounder, and three spinners on the South Africa tour, we have maintained the same balance. There are bouncy wickets here too, so our approach will remain the same.”
He further stated, “The foundation of our preparation was laid during the Asia Cup. It was then that we started playing consistently in the T20 format, and now each series is strengthening us towards the World Cup.”
A tough match expected against Australia
Suryakumar described Australia as a “beautiful and challenging” cricket country. He said, “Australia is a beautiful place for cricket. Playing here always brings new energy. Certainly, this series will be tough and a good test for us.”
Team's mindset remains
They also clarified that, “Even though the next few matches will be in Asian conditions, our mindset has not changed. Wherever we play, we adapt to the conditions and maintain our style of play. This series is an important step in preparing for the World Cup.”
India recently defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 to claim the title. Now, with that confidence, Team India has landed on Australian soil. The first match will be played in Canberra, and both teams will be seen striving hard for victory in this series.
