(Mirabai Chanu) Mirabai Chanu, who has become the identity of Indian weightlifting, has once again shone in the international sports arena. At the World Weightlifting Championship 2025 being held in Forde, Norway, she lifted a total of 199 kg to win the silver medal. This is her third world medal in her career, and she has reached the top among Indian weightlifters with the most medals won at the global level.

Chanu had previously won a gold medal in the 48 kg category in Anaheim, USA, in 2017. Then, in 2022, she won a silver medal in the 49 kg category in Bogota. In this year's competition, she maintained her form and once again brought great honor to the country.

This time, competing in the 48 kg category, Chanu lifted a total of 199 kg, with 84 kg in snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk. This performance earned her second place. North Korea's Ri Song Gum lifted 213 kg to win gold. Meanwhile, Chanu had a fierce competition with China's Thanyathans.

Thanyathans was ahead by 4 kg in snatch, but Chanu's excellent performance in clean and jerk put her ahead, securing silver by just a 1 kg difference. Thanyathans had to settle for bronze in the end. After this success, Chanu thanked her coach Vijay Sharma.
