A Man In Kalwa Arrested For Spying For Pakistan, Shared Sensitive Information

In a significant development, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a 27-year-old man from Kalwa, Thane, for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence agencies.

The accused, identified as Ravi Muralidhar Verma, is a resident of the Kalwa area and works with a reputed private organization in Mumbai. According to officials, Verma was reportedly honey-trapped by a Pakistani agent and subsequently lured into passing on classified information.

Investigations revealed that Verma had shared sensitive data related to a key Indian organization via WhatsApp and Facebook between November 2024 and March 2025. The nature of the information, while not disclosed in detail, is believed to be of strategic importance.

The arrest was the result of a joint operation conducted by the Mumbai and Thane units of the ATS. Following his arrest, Verma was taken to Thane Civil Hospital for a mandatory medical examination and was later remanded to Thane Central Jail.

Officials stated that Verma was presented in court, where the ATS secured his custody until Monday for further interrogation. Sources confirmed that Verma is a mechanical engineer by profession and has been employed with a prominent firm. Two of his colleagues are also currently under investigation in connection with the case.

The ATS is continuing its probe to determine the full extent of the information leak and to identify any additional individuals who may be involved.
