In a heart-wrenching development following the horrific Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, the body of 24-year-old air hostess Roshni Songhare was brought to her home in Dombivli seven days after the tragic incident. A wave of grief swept through the locality as her family, friends, and neighbors gathered to pay their final respects.
The devastating crash, which occurred when an Air India flight collided with a medical college building in Ahmedabad, claimed the lives of 270 people, including all 241 passengers and crew on board. Among the deceased were also students and doctors present in the building at the time of the crash. The incident is being described as one of the deadliest air disasters in recent memory.
Roshni Songhare, a resident of Umiya Building in Dombivli East, was among the aircrew who lost their lives in the crash. Her untimely death has left the Songhare family shattered. Her mother Rajshri, father Rajendra, and brother Vignesh are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their beloved daughter and sister.
Roshni was an ambitious young woman who had dreamt of becoming an air hostess since childhood. Despite facing financial difficulties, her father stood by her side and supported her dream. Her determination paid off when she secured her first job with SpiceJet in 2021, eventually joining Air India two years later.
The ill-fated flight was meant to be a step toward a new journey in her career. Excited about a scheduled trip to London, Roshni had left home with a smile, bidding a cheerful goodbye to her family — unaware that it would be her last.
After the crash, her father and brother, who are employed with the Merchant Navy, rushed to Ahmedabad. Following a week-long DNA identification process, Roshni’s body was finally released and brought back to Dombivli. Her funeral took place with heavy hearts and tearful farewells. Her mother, inconsolable upon seeing her daughter’s body, broke down in grief. The entire neighborhood mourned her loss as a large number of people attended the final rites.
This tragic incident has left a permanent scar on the community, and especially on the Songhare family, who now mourn the loss of a daughter who had only just begun to live her dreams.
The nation continues to grieve the lives lost in the Ahmedabad plane crash, and Roshni’s story stands as a painful reminder of the human cost behind such disasters.
