As banks will be closed, customers need to plan ahead
(Bank Holidays) October 2025 is a month filled with festivals. From Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali, Chhath Puja to Bhai Dooj, banks will remain closed on several occasions, so customers need to plan in advance. Due to bank closures, tasks like financial transactions, cash withdrawals or deposits, and check clearing may be affected.
According to the official calendar of holidays issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will be closed for a total of 18 days in October. This includes all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. Additionally, due to local festivals in various states, holidays will be applicable on different days.
The beginning will be on October 1, when banks will be closed in many states due to Mahanavami, Dussehra, and Durga Puja. The next day, on October 2, banks across the country will be closed on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. During the Diwali period, holidays will be applicable in various states including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, and Manipur from October 20 to 23.
Additionally, on October 6 for Lakshmi Puja, October 7 for Valmiki Jayanti, October 10 for Karva Chauth, and on October 27 and 28 for Chhath Puja, banks will be closed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. On October 31, banks will also have a holiday in Gujarat on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.
If customers have important tasks to complete due to these holidays, it is essential for them to plan in advance. Especially for check deposits, approval of large transactions, or loan installments, it is necessary to pay attention to the dates.
Digital banking provides great relief to customers. Transactions can be smoothly conducted using mobile banking, internet banking, UPI, and ATM services. Therefore, even if banks are on holiday, most tasks can be completed online by customers.
