Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the press conference today, Wednesday, that the Union Cabinet has decided to include caste enumeration in the upcoming census. The Congress has always opposed the caste-wise census. Minister Vaishnav said that caste-wise census will be included in the upcoming census.
Meanwhile, Legislative Assembly Leader Vijay Wadettiwar has reacted by saying that we welcome the decision to conduct a caste-wise census in the country. This was a demand consistently made by Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi. The number of people who have the same stake in this role. The ruling party had opposed this earlier, but the decision was made today. Bihar elections are coming up soon, so this announcement should not be made, said Vadettiwar. Then, after the caste-wise census, OBCs will be able to get their rights. However, he has also expressed the hope that this announcement should not be made just for the elections.
Giving information about the inclusion of caste census in the National Census, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, "The Congress government has always opposed the caste census. In 2010, the late Dr. Manmohan Singh had said that the issue of caste census should be considered in the Cabinet. A group of ministers was formed to consider this issue. Most political parties have recommended a caste census. Despite this, the Congress government decided to conduct a caste survey or caste census. Everyone understands that the Congress and its Bharatiya Janata Party partners have used the caste census only as a political tool. Some states have conducted surveys to count castes. Some states have done this well, while some have conducted such surveys only in an opaque manner from a political point of view. Such surveys have created doubts in the society. To prevent politics from disrupting our social structure, castes should be included in the census instead of surveys."
